Average Daily Temperature For September
Hi Everyone Kevin from Back Road Growers here just received this info this week...
The September Statewide Average Temperature beat the 30 Year Average by 4°F, making it the 2nd hottest September over that time-frame. Still, September's average was much lower than August's 74°F.
September’s low ending average, was at 64°F, and hasn’t been seen since mid-June. That's good news for reviving the root systems of struggling plants.
Rainfall was 30% to 60% higher in September than August in all reporting communities. However, the statewide monthly average was lower than the 30 year average for the 5th straight month.
Here's a telling statistic on precipitation. The year to date total now stands at approximately 28", or about 7" short of the 30 Year Average 35". The seven inch deficit translates to approximately 147 billion gallons of less water than normal! As a result, soils are very dry in most places across Rhode Island. Not sure what is in store for us this winter... UT OH... :)
